Privacy policy
Effective October 17, 2026
The short version
- Noela works on your phone. There's no Noela account and no Noela server holding your data.
- We don't collect, sell or share your information. Noela has no ads, analytics or tracking.
- If you connect email, Noela only reads it. It never sends, deletes or changes mail.
- Nothing becomes a saved task until you approve it.
What Noela keeps on your phone
Everything you save stays in Noela's storage on your device:
- Notes, tasks, dates and other items you capture or approve.
- The original text you confirmed when saving an item, so you can always see where it came from.
- Your settings, such as priority areas and quiet hours.
- An activity record ("What Noela did") that lists what Noela read and what you approved. It records counts and actions, never the text of your messages.
We can't see this information, and Noela doesn't copy it to any server of ours.
Messages, photos and files you share
When you paste text, pick a photo or PDF, or share something to Noela from another app, Noela reads it on your phone. Text inside photos and PDFs is recognized on the device using Apple's or Google's built-in tools. Noela then suggests tasks and dates, and saves only the ones you approve. Photos and files are not uploaded anywhere.
Speech
Noela uses the microphone only when you tap Speak. Your speech is turned into text on your phone, where your device and language support it, and there is no cloud fallback. Audio is not saved.
On-device AI
To find tasks and dates, Noela uses the AI model built into your phone: Apple Intelligence on iPhone, or Gemini Nano on Android. The model runs on the device. If it needs to be downloaded first, Apple or Google provides the download under their own terms.
Email (Gmail and Outlook)
Connecting email is optional. If you connect a Gmail or Outlook account:
- Read-only access. Noela asks only for permission to read mail (Gmail's
gmail.readonly, Microsoft'sMail.Read). It cannot send, delete, move or label your email. - You choose what it reads: important mail, only specific senders, or all mail.
- Read on your phone. Your phone downloads new messages directly from Google or Microsoft, and Noela finds tasks in them on the device. Email content is never sent to us or to anyone other than your email provider.
- Only what you approve is saved: the task, the quoted words it came from, and a link back to the email. Noela does not keep copies of your emails.
- Sign-in is stored securely. The access that lets Noela check your mail is kept in your phone's secure storage (Keychain on iPhone, Keystore on Android).
- You can disconnect at any time in Noela under Settings โ Email. You can also remove Noela's access from your Google account or Microsoft account.
Google user data
Noela's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Gmail data is used only to show you tasks and dates you asked Noela to find. It is not used for advertising, it is not sold or transferred to anyone, it is not used to train AI models, and no person reads it.
What we collect
Nothing. Noela contains no analytics, advertising or tracking tools, and it doesn't create an account for you. Apple and Google give app developers summary statistics, such as download counts, and crash reports if you've chosen to share them with developers in your phone's settings. Those reports come from Apple and Google under their privacy policies and do not include the contents of Noela.
Sharing and selling
We don't sell, rent or share your information. Because it stays on your phone, we have nothing to share.
Deleting your information
- Delete single items in the app at any time.
- Use Settings โ Erase all local data to remove all of Noela's data from your phone.
- Deleting the app also removes its data from your phone.
- Disconnect email in Settings โ Email, or remove access from your Google or Microsoft account.
Children
Noela is meant for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children.
Security
Your information stays on your device and benefits from your phone's own protections, such as your passcode and device encryption. Email sign-in uses each provider's official sign-in page, so Noela never sees your email password.
Changes
If Noela starts handling information differently, we'll update this page and change the date above before the change takes effect.
